Filtration materials

The main indicators of any filter material are:

  • level of dust control
  • differential pressure drop
  • lifetime

Stability of the filter material to the temperature loads

Woven and non-woven materials are used as production material for filter bags.

There is a large number of different types of fibers for the production of woven and nonwoven materials. We must briefly characterize the most important of those used at increased temperatures.

Polyester fiber

Fibers made from polyethylene terephthalate are most often used because they are relatively cheap and provide good chemical resistance. Persistence in the presence of oxidizing substances is good. The main weakness is hydrolytic degradation under humid conditions, especially if alkaline environment is formed at high temperatures.

M-Aramid

Aromatic polyamides are often used in hot gas filtration systems. They are refractory, resistant to most solvents, but their resistance to hydrolytic action is limited. Therefore, they are used mainly in dry conditions.

Poliphenylsulfide

PPS exhibits very high resistance to hydrolytic action in acid and alkaline environment because the main polymer chain is not formed due to hydrolytic action. This refractory and insoluble material is not very stable in the presence of oxidizing substances.

Polyamide

A refractory yellowish material that has excellent resistance to temperature effects. Resistance to oxidizing substances and acids is good enough.

Polytetrafluoroethylene

PTFE fibers have excellent chemical resistance and high resistance to temperature effects. PTFE fibers are not flammable, insoluble or anti-adhesive.

Various additional impregnations are also used, which improve filtration of gases from dust and increase material resistance.

The composition and type of filter material depends on the needs of your company. We can help to find the best material for you, according to your needs.

Properly selected type of filter material provides the maximum degree of purification and longevity of the filter bag.

Choosing a filter material, you should consider a large number of criteria, for example:

  • Properties of gases and their temperature
  • Dust properties
  • Regeneration mode.

PJSC “Voltex-Melange” will help to select correctly the filter material, in accordance with the customers’ requirements.
